Terms & Conditions

  1. Payment terms – Our standard payment terms are 30 days from date of invoice. Invoices are payable by bank transfer or cheque, details of which will be on the invoice. ‘Notice of Right to Cancel’ – the client has 14 days to cancel the contract from acceptance date.
  2. Materials – Please note, should any materials be required for the works, these would be ordered after 14 days of acceptance and normally when the works are booked in. The only exception would be if the works were planned within 14 days of acceptance or materials were needed to be ordered within 14 days of acceptance to ensure delivery for the planned start date. If the quote is subsequently cancelled you would be charged for any materials ordered plus an admin fee of 10%. These materials would become your property and could be collected from our depot. Alternatively, we could deliver the materials to your property at a further charge.
  3. Privacy – S P Landscapes take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal information to administer the services you have requested from us. You may have your data erased from our systems when we have no legal reason for retaining it.
  4. British Standards – All tree works are carried out to current arboricultural standards, in accordance with ‘BS3998:2010 Recommendations for Tree Work’, where appropriate. Dimensions specified are approximate and, wherever possible, will be to the nearest appropriate pruning point. Please note that, if the work requested is not in line with current British Standards, we will advise, however S P Landscapes & Tree Contractors Ltd cannot be held responsible for the future health, safety or decline of the tree to be worked on if works that are excessive are requested. In all cases we will do our best to advise you on best practice.
  5. Conservation Areas & Tree Protection Orders – S P Landscapes & Tree Contractors Ltd will carry out a check to clarify if trees within this quotation are subject to any tree preservation orders or council conservation areas. If any trees are subject to these constraint’s we are happy to apply to the relevant authority at your request. This will be free of charge, subject to acceptance of our quote. If the works are subsequently cancelled, or do not go ahead, then there will be a £50 + VAT charge applied to cover the cost of the application. If you apply for works to be carried out on a protected tree yourself, we will need to see a copy of the permission before any works on site commence.
  6. Treating stumps to prevent re-growth – Stumps will be treated with a glyphosate-based product, unless stated otherwise, to help reduce the risk of re-growth. Whilst this is an effective treatment, it is not guaranteed, and repeat treatments may be required at an additional cost.
  7. Ivy Removal – Whilst every effort will be made to remove as much vegetation as possible when removing Ivy or Vines, it is not always possible to remove the plant completely from the fabric of the building and some residual vegetation may remain to avoid damage. All efforts will be made not to damage walls or roofs when removing Ivy or Vines but S P Landscapes & Tree Contractors Ltd will not be liable for damage resulting directly from removal of the plant.
  8. Tree Surveys & Inspections – Our tree surveyors hold a Level 4 Certificate in Arboriculture, their Professional Tree Inspection qualification and are suitably experienced to carry out tree surveys and inspections. Please note, we provide fixed quotations for our Tree Surveys and Reports, however should a report need amending due to changes required by the client or planners any changes to the report will incur an admin fee of £65 + VAT per hour.
  9. Tree Planting – Where planting, we supply and plant only and the quote does not include for any ongoing maintenance, unless specified. Subsequent maintenance, including regular watering, is essential for the plants survival to ensure they establish in their new environment. If you require any advice on maintenance, please contact our office. All supplied plants conform with ‘BS3936:1992 Nursery Stock’ and planting works are carried out to ‘BS8545:2014 Tree from nursery to independence in the landscape – Recommendation’
  10. Third-party Property- Where works are proposed to trees located to third party property, we will require written confirmation from the tree owner that the works are agreed and where necessary, that access is permitted.  If works only apply to overhanging branches that can be pruned from within the client’s property then permission is not required but the neighbour should be advised where practicable.
  11. Boundaries – Where work is on a client’s property, it is the client’s responsibility to obtain permission from the neighbouring landowner to allow us access their property to undertake the work.
  12. Traffic Management supplied by S P Landscapes – Where traffic management is to be supplied by the company an external, qualified contractor will be used and supervised by S.P. Landscapes & Tree Contractors Ltd throughout the course of the job.
  13. Electricity Power Shutdowns – Please note a power shut down may be required to carry out these works. All shut downs need to be organised via UK Power Networks. In most cases this service is free of charge and S P Landscapes & Tree Contractors Ltd are happy to organise this on your behalf should you choose to accept this quotation. Any costs relating to a shut down will be agreed with you prior to instructing UK Power Networks.
